International School New Updates: English Schools Foundation proposal for resume school, Education Bureau check procedures for lunch, take prevention for the virus to keep students safe

Hong Kong government announced international schools can slowly resume classes. The Education Bureau said it had received the application from ESF about the decision to resume classes. At the same time, the school is taking measures for lunch and prevention. If the school arrangement can follow the guideline from the Education Bureau for resume classes, it would follow the procedures for approval consideration.

English Schools Foundation has sent letters to parents announced the decision of primary school and secondary school would gradually resume classes. Some higher-level students would resume class Friday (May 22) next week.  

As for precaution, even though schools resume classes, but it would be on a half-day basis. This helps for social distancing and allows the school to have enough time for cleaning and sanitizing the campus.  It also minimizes the chance when students would take masks off for lunch and worry if they are maintaining safety social distance.

Some international school has specific spaces that use as lunch area, where to allow students to keep the social distance, reduce the sanitary risk. In general, the plan of lunch arrangement and other precautions, schools have to follow the guideline offered by the Education Bureau. Education Bureau would consider the situation by case to evaluate if the school can resume class and if approves for their lunch arrangement. Education Bureau would monitor the school situation closely after resuming classes. If there are any inappropriate arrangement, it would contact the school for correction.
