There are multiple ways of getting to this famous attraction, gondola ride through the mountainside, bus, or person vehicle.

The Big Buddha is a famous symbol of Lantau. It is the second-largest outdoor Buddha and took about 12 years to complete the whole statue. It means to bring good blessings to people. To have a closer look at the statue, there are stairs with a total of 268 steps to climb. Even though it sounds very exhausting, it is worth it to climb up to see the outstanding statue with wonderful mountains and ocean views. The view from the bottom of the steps just gives you this sense of wonder of how they built this Buddha so far out from the city at such a large scale. The view from the top, it feels empowering.

As for Po Lin Monastery, which is located the opposite of the Big Buddha. It is known as one of the most important temples and it is home to lots of monks. The temple is surrounded with beautiful gardens, flowers, and birds. . You can always try out vegetarian meals in the restaurant there. The Monastery and the Big Buddha is two attractions worth the trip out into the lone mountainside.
