Hong Kong International School is a private school founded in 1966, which is a member of East Asia Regional Council since 1971. The school is also approved by Western Association of Schools & Colleges. The school started with 120 students in Chung Hom Kok because by the help from US businessmen. Hong Kong government and representatives of Lutheranism church then through time turned it into having two campuses. Nowadays, the school has over 2800 students of 40 nationalities that include:

Hong Kong International School is a Christian school that follows the American education curriculum. It offers education levels from pre-kindergarten to grade 12. It classifies as below:

Hong Kong International School wants their students to be continuous learners and global citizens. For students in upper levels, they can pick to learn Spanish, French and Chinese. There are some Chinese courses that are mandatory to take.

The school wants to provide an environment that is sympathetic, global, spiritual and service orientated. The school encourages students to be socially involved with the community. The schools would like their students to be respectful, caring, creative, brave, cooperative, and to develop their greatest potential.

Hong Kong International School values academic and student’s overall development. Students from the school usually have higher SAT scores and around 85% of the students continue their education in American institutions. The school likes to see students that are self-motivated to learn. The school wants its students to be curious learners that they can discover their interests and capability, to help solve problems and serve others.

As Hong Kong International School is a member of AMIS, the school participates in an international school’s music festival. The band, choir and string group from the school would perform in the festivals. The school has even performed in Singapore Music Festival before. Beside for music, the school also has theater, student publishers’ clubs and sport activities for students to join. Students are welcome to create their own clubs as well to expand the options.
